Jakob Gasser

Jakob Gasser, winemaker at St. Michael-Eppan Winery, faces the challenges of today’s viticulture with an innovative vision that goes beyond advanced technology to restore authentic contact with the natural ecosystem and the laws that govern it. For him, nature is an indispensable guide.

His philosophy is based on a simple but profound principle: a winemaker is first and foremost an attentive observer and listener of the terroir. It is only through this authentic connection that the best results can be achieved, guaranteeing uncompromising quality, a fundamental value for Gasser.

His academic training culminated in 2017 with a double degree from the prestigious universities of Geisenheim and Udine, where he had the opportunity to study with internationally renowned professors. He joined the winery in 2017 as an intern and, from 2019, he has been working closely with Hans Terzer, known as the "Pope of white wines".

In 2024, after years of training and professional development, Jakob Gasser was appointed winemaker at the St. Michael-Eppan winery. Dynamic and open to change, he combines a critical view of the new with respect for tradition, always with a particular focus on sustainability, a crucial issue for a cooperative winery with 320 winemaking families.

Jakob Gasser represents the synthesis of innovation, tradition and respect for nature that will shape the future of St. Michael-Eppan.
